Loving Moschino

Illustrated Shopper with Expandable Strap, £159 at Harrods.

Totes and shoppers have always held a special place close to my heart, while clutches, satchels and handheld styles linger in the outer realms of affection. The former styles have become so intrinsic to everyday life, that when forced to convert to more "dressy" handbags, I often find myself in a state of distress. Keys, phones, purses, cosmetics, notepads, pens and an endless amount of gadgets and gizmos can no longer be sourced by a momentary root in a bottomless carrier. No. Instead I find myself checking every compartment and pocket, until eventually forgetting what I had wanted to find.

Thankfully designer and high-street creatives have begun investing their time and talent into creating totes and shoppers that perfectly fit day-to-day business. Barbour, River Island, Peter Jensen, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Asos and Longchamp are among the few names that best work the stylish shoppers, but there's no denying Love Moschino's aesthetic superiority.

Stunning illustrations, spacious interiors and subtle details give these bags the edge. Not only do they bring bursts of energy to run-of-the-mill rigouts, but they're also functional and easy to carry around (as opposed to those bulky bags that require special attention when passing through tight spaces, walking along bustling streets or dancing on overcrowded dance floors).

Yes, Love Moschino wins hands down.
