The Jumper

As I sit here typing away, my eyes remain fixated on the newest addition to chez Lolo's humble knitwear collection. As you probably know, over the past season I have developed a worrying obsession for shawl collared jumpers, so imagine the ecstasy that filled every fiber of my being when the other half presented me with this stunning cable-knit number.

The deep blue geansaí, which had been mentioned on Just Lolo last November (cue appreciation for endearing thoughtfulness), constitutes everything you could ever want from a winter woolly: cable stitches (yet not in excess), ribbed cuffs (perfect for preventing over-stretched sleeves) and most importantly, the impeccable shawl collar.

It's simply perfect.

Sweet Success

Poor health prevented me from venturing into the big smoke for some (much anticipated) post-Christmas splurging. I'd like to take this opportunity to formally thank my bacteria-ridden, nose-snuffling, Lemsipping colleagues for this oh-so-generous donation.

Funnily enough, the lack of cosmopolitan exposure has yet to evoke excruciating withdrawal symptoms. Perhaps it's because of my brief retail fix yesterday, which saw a two-hour excursion to a local shopping centre. Needless to say it was no Grafton Street, but the laid-back atmosphere and indoor heating did ease me nicely into the reductionful realm.

Here are three statement pieces I managed to nab while on my hobbles....

Absolutely adore this grey waterfall cardigan by Crafted at Republic. The black ribbed sleeves, side zip detail and leather-like lining turn it from a typical, run-of-the-mill cardi, to a stunning, alternative statement piece. Was €45, Lolo's for €26. Bargain investment.

* * *

In love with these lace up booties from Penneys. It just so happens that I was searching high and low for a new pair of black covered-over heels. Success. Were €23, Lolo's for €12.

* * *

These babies have become my most treasured possessions. Tasselled loafers were otherwise known (in my books) as 'grandad shoes', but I'm willing to endorse these beauties for their stunning rustic finish and divinely-cut heels. Were €72, then €38, Lolo's for €21.60, from Faith at Debenhams.

Hope the sales have treated you all well!

SALES SALES SALES

It's that time of year again, when savvy shoppers become deluded by that big, bold, four letter word; when recessionistas get a glimpse into the material high-life; and when stingy students begin wasting away their long-earned wages, because let's face it, who needs food when you could own a newly-reduced Miu Miu?
Ah yes, post-Christmas sales.....the common consumer's most stressful yet rewarding endeavour. Be warned fellow shoppers, this excursion is not to be undertaken by the light-hearted.

Fierce, hardcore fashion fanatics will be among those ploughing their way through the blackened streets, taking no prisoners. So brace yourselves, it may be tough, but the pleasure you will derive from impulse buying will rival any gift-opening ritual.

OUTRAGEOUS Fashion Facts

I think we've all learned a lot from today's giveaway. It was stiff competition but in the end, the most outrageous fashion fact won (or perhaps the winner held several IOU's over her peers).
For those of you who didn't see the Facebook entries, prepare to be enlightened...

OUTRAGEOUS FASHION FACT: Chanel actually had 3 nipples. Her third nipple has been preserved by Karl Lagerfeld. He keeps it in a jar of vinegar in his pantry, and drinks the vinegar when he needs inspiration.

OUTRAGEOUS FASHION FACT: (lol) Marc Jacobs' tattoos include spongebob squarepants, m&ms, the logo of the french porno mag 'oui', a Simpsonised version of Marc and the phrase 'bros before hos'!
Courtesy of Iseult Anne McArdle

(One of her many) OUTRAGEOUS FASHION FACTS: In the 18th century, it was considered the height of fashion to wear false eyebrows made out of mouse skin.

Stocking Fillers

Hopefully you all have your Christmas shopping finished by now. For those of you who don't, you'd better start soon sunshine! Before you know it, shops will be void of any adequate gifts, forcing you to choose from battered bath sets, opened gadget boxes, and luxury foodstuffs to which hungry spenders had previously turned their attention. Not a great selection!

Once you have your main shop complete, it'll be time to turn your eyes toward the 'oul stocking fillers. For many, this is the most enjoyable part of the stocking-up experience, for others, it is a slow and torturous time. To relieve any mental and/or emotional agony that may arise during the process, I've hunted down a few key ideas that promise to suit all. Most of these can be bought online, saving you a bundle of late-night shopping hours!
